Evanston. Finally.

Well, we made it to Evanston! And so did all our stuff! And we haven't found anything broken yet

In reply to the most serious of crafty information I left off before... I did finish all the blocks for my king size quilt. I did not get them all pieced into a top however. But I still feel good that I managed to get that much done! [happy dance]AND... my incredibly awesome DH suggested we take one (of our 3 small) bedrooms in the condo and make it a sewing/study/tv room. We were going to set it up as our dining room. But really, how much do we plan to have more than 4 people sitting at our table to eat? Seemed a waste of a good room when I was looking at having no place to permanently set up my machine[/happy dance].

We have internet and we have phone yay!

I miss all my friends

Woo Hoo! We made it to Cincinnati!

Well.... after a looooong drive, we finally made it to Cincinnati. The dog was a trooper for the trek. She got a little upset in Kentucky because their roads are full of potholes. But other than that she didn't mind the drive at all.

Stepho gave me a little box with some travel sewing supplies before we hit the road, so I decided I'd practice my applique points with stars. Then while I was driving I listened to Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. Man, the person who does the narrating has an annoying voice. She sound like she was 50 years old. I guess after seeing the movie, I expected to hear Renee Zelwegger or something. Oh well.

OK. Back to watching soaps. I haven't watched soaps in years... this is so fun!

I love the Amazing Race

Yay! Another season of The Amazing Race has started! I tried to get DH to apply with me to be on that show and he said "no... you have no sense of direction in any town... i'd kill you for sure"

While it was on, I managed to get a TON of sewing done. I finished up my last round of 9-patches for this king-size quilt. So now... I get to lay it all out and start sewing blocks together. Think it can get done before I have to pack up my sewing stuff??

Speaking of packing... I HATE packing. hate it hate it hate it. Instead I cross my arms and pout. Which DH doesn't find very amusing. I have to be in the right mood to pack, and that mood hasn't struck me yet .

We ordered a new digital camera for our adventures this summer! First the drive cross-country, then the move into Evanston, then maybe back to Austin for work (and I get to stay with Stepho - yay!), then a wedding in Milwaukee, then our KAOS trip to Costa Rica . And then I sleep...

Will it ever stop raining??

Sigh. It has rained SO much here in Austin this year. Hold please, while I go and get some numbers...

So I decided I would move all of my covered patio plants and hanging baskets out onto the front walk to enjoy some of this rain. And the freakin deer came and ate all the heads off my plants!! And left a basket of stalks on my pothos plant. Argh! That's it! I've had it with you stupid deer! I'm moving to the city! Ha ha ha...

Ok. I've been pretty relaxed about this whole "move" thing. I'm starting to get little bursts of panic now . It's a long holiday weekend... hopefully we can get a lot of packing done. That will make me feel better. I hope. And the sun is supposed to be out.

Hallettsville

Saturday was so much fun - Jessica, Skye, and I drove down to Hallettsville, Texas to spend the day with Michelle sewing. The drive down was fun - we drove through Luling, TX and could see people lining up for their "Watermelon Thump" parade. Nice. I finally made it to small-town Texas before leaving!

Michelle has an awesome house and we got to meet her kids (there was a babysitter there so Michelle could have the whole day to play with us). So cute. And her sewing room is sooooo cool. We were all drooling. I wish I'd had my digital camera to take pictures. She had tables in her room set up for us and we had a blast. Trying new techniques, sharing what we're working on... and generally just getting a lot done!

We left about 7pm and it started storming and pouring rain And then there was an accident blocking all lanes on our 4-lane road, so we had to backtrack and head over to a different highway. So I didn't get home til about 10. And then I pretty much went straight to bed and didn't get out of bed til 11am this morning .

DH got up and played golf before getting rained out (can you tell it is raining a lot this summer??). Then we went to the gym and the grocery store. And are about to head out to friends' house for dinner .

Sewing and Chocolate

Lots of sewing done this weekend!! Stepho and Jessica came over on Saturday and we all sat around the dining room table with our sewing machines. So much fun. Sewing, chatting, and eating chocolate. And I decided that all wrappers must be crumpled and thrown away so that no one can keep track of how much chocolate was actually consumed Now why were you eating chocolate you might ask? Well... DH sort of backed into Stepho's Mini on his way to the gym. . So being that he felt awful for denting her bumper, and being that chocolate makes many things not feel so bad... he stopped and got us some Almond Nuggets on the way home .
