Free Money?
Last month, I decided to collect all the jars, bags, etc. of coins around our house and take them to one of those Coinstar sorting machines. I thought I remembered that you could convert them to Amazon.com gift certificates and avoid the sorting fee. Turns out I was right! And you can get all kinds of gift certificates for places like iTunes, Starbucks, etc. I went with Amazon since holiday shopping was on the horizon. After the machine was all done and had spit out the few Canadian coins that were in the mix (and one Costa-Rican coin), I walked away with a gift certificate for $95.17 to Amazon.com. Sweet! Free Money! In looking at their website, you can also send your “earnings” to charities.
That was a couple years worth of change that we had collected - those quarters sure add up!
