Happy New Year!
I can’t believe it is January all ready. That means next month is February… and that means… oh crap I have so much to do before a baby arrives!
On that note, here is what I finished over the holidays:
First up is the baby quilt/blankie. It is a mix of cotton fabric and minkee soft and bumpee fabric. The backing is a green flannel. I didn’t put any batting in the middle and the quilting is just stitch-in-the-ditch between the blocks:

Next up are the socks/booties. These were my carry-around project that I worked on in various Barnes & Nobles, Starbucks, and friends’ places while we were homeless. They are my first “socks” I have knit. The heel and toe were done with short rows so I don’t think they are classic sock construction. And they aren’t perfect… but that’s ok ![]()

Yarn: Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock (80% Superwash Wool, 20% Nylon)
Needles: Size 0 DPNs
Pattern: Better than Booties Baby Socks
And finally, after doing that top-down sweater, I decided to give it a go making up my own pattern. I wanted something smaller and would work for an infant, so I added an opening down one shoulder seam. I have to put 3 little buttons there, but you can see the idea here:

Yarn: Valley Yarns Longmeadow in Lettuce color (60% cotton, 40% microfiber) 1.5-2 balls
Needles: US 5 circular and DPN
Pattern: my own
For the holidays I received some knitting goodies!! I’ve cast on for Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Swedish Dubbelmossa hat with unspun icelandic wool (thanks Allyson!!). This is my first time doing anything with 2 colors. Woohoo - remember I like to teach myself new things
Another fun gift for the baby is a onesie from my favorite online cartoon (homestarrunner.com) - baby Trogdor - LOL! It is washed and ready to be worn. So fun!
OK, that is enough for tonight. Ta ta!
