Energy has returned!

My first trimester was pretty uneventful from a pregnancy standpoint. Except I was more tired than usual. As you all know, I am an olympic napper anyway, so being even MORE tired than normal was kind of a drag. Particularly when J wants me to help him unpack and re-arrange stuff. Zzzzz. On Friday I had a turning point! I didn’t take a nap! And I didn’t even sneak some caffeine! And in fact, I had energy! So after work, I started organizing some of my sewing stuff. J comes home from work, “where o where is Lucy??” Astonished, he found me vertical and productive. The dog was laying in the hall outside the sewing room with her permanent worried look and was relieved that dad was home “its mom! i don’t know what is wrong! something is very wrong! we normally nap… but she didn’t nap… do something! it is stressing me out!”

Saturday we wake up and, being on west-coast time, J can watch PGA golf in bed. I don’t recall that we did anything productive Saturday morning. Then we went to a Seattle Kellogg-crew BBQ in the afternoon. Mmmm I love grilled burgers. We took some cookies to add to the BBQ spread. We got home about 4:30 and J was not going to let this “nap-free Lucy” go to waste. It was decided we would work on our front entry room (dining room). So I went about setting up picture frames and candles and such ontop of the piano and we cleared off and put away all the crap that had never found a home besides the dining table. Ah, so much nicer to look at when you walk in. We might even invite people over! The organizing spread around the corner to the kitchen nook desk that had crap on it and under it. Good night to order pizza and salad. And we finished watching Shop Girl. Anyone else think that Steve Martin should not have starred in the movie that he wrote? It creeped us out a little bit. Claire Danes didn’t quite seem old enough, and he seemed way too old.

Sunday we set the alarms to get up before 9:30. Again, J did not want this mysteriously motivated Lucy to vanish before we did more unpacking! I told him I just needed some shelves in the sewing/guest room. So Sunday morning he put up shelves for me in the closet. Low-and-behold, I filled them! He was astonished that shelves were all I needed to unpack and organize my sewing stuff. The guest bed got made and all there is left to do is hang some pictures. While I was busily filling my newly installed shelves, J went to town on our boxes of computer cables and computer books/CDs. Then we went to the grocery store to get some food for the week and decided on Mom’s standby for a quick dinner of the already-roasted-and-warm turkey breast with potato salad. Mmmm. Hit the spot. Time to tackle the closet. Between the two of us, we filled 3 big garbage bags with clothes to take to Goodwill. And we have 2 boxes of stuff from the office and my sewing room to donate as well.

And all I wanted to do this weekend was buy a vacuum cleaner. Drat! That didn’t get done. Hopefully one night this week we can go to Sears and try some out. I guess they don’t let you bring your dog in to try rolling around on carpet a bit first? Or maybe I could collect some of her hair from our carpet and take it in and work it into theirs ;)

They say that your energy returns during your 2nd trimester. I guess now I believe them!
