My Nuts… And Blueberries
I hate going grocery shopping. Hate hate hate it. DH enjoys it. Go figure. We usually end up going together though. Best not to go when Lucy has an empty stomach. That means grouchy Lucy… and DH gets this
Anyway, we went to Wild Oats tonight as well, since I had run out of all my nuts! I have a thing with chopped up nuts and dried blueberries. It is Stepho’s fault. She got me into them. Anyway, below is my lovely stack sitting on the kitchen counter. I leave them all out because it makes me happy to see them - like I’m being all organic and healthy. From bottom to top we have: steel cut oats, chopped pecans, chopped cashews, chopped almonds, and dried blueberries. Stepho introduced me to the blueberries too. Mmmmm
What do I do with all these nuts, you might wonder. Well. I use them in oatmeal or mixed in with Grape Nuts cereal and milk. Yum!

And in knitting news… my mom has a dear friend, Betty, whom she met when we lived in England in the early 80’s. Betty is a fabulous lace knitter… wins awards and all. Every time she visits she encourages me to try lace knitting. But I have no need for hand made doilies (or really, any kind of doily) so I have never taken her up on it. For Christmas she sent me a pattern for a Shetland Lace scarf and enough lace weight Shetland wool to make it. It is my first time following a charted pattern. I have to say, I really kind of like it. Must be the enginerd in me. Anyway, here is where I am so far:

Not bad, eh? Betty will be back this summer visiting my mom. Hopefully when I see her I can show her my mad lace knitting skills!
On to TV news… the Bachelor finale was last night! Finally! The girls got together and we all watched it. We are so into it - “no talking!!” LOL. Anyway, we are kind of sad that it is over because it is the series that we have gotten together regularly to watch our whole time here in Evanston, and there won’t be another one on before DHs graduate and we all disperse across the country :’( Sniff. OK, Grey’s Anatomy on Sunday. They somehow changed like every relationship on that show in one episode. I didn’t really like it. We’ll see where they go from here. Bleh. And new Lost this week - woo hoo! Except DH can’t stand Claire and her “beh bee” and “chah lee”. So we’ll see how much he can make it through. They need to show people on the island having some fun… like having a luau or something. They played golf once, didn’t they?? What happened to that?
Happy End of February!
