“Arguing”
Last night our Evanston knitting group met at Cafe Mud. New place for us. There were just 4 of us, and we picked out colors of Sierra yarn from KnitPicks to make Button Hole bags. Satu and I have each made one before, but you can always find something to do with another one!
So, DH and I are “arguing” about where to go for a post-graduation/pre-working vacation. I know… our life is so rough that this is what causes conflict?? Anyway, DH is gung ho about Thailand - Bangkok, Phuket. I don’t really know why I’m not excited about this. I guess I am. We’re also cheap, so going to Australia or Europe might sound more appealing to me, but they are much more expensive. So… Thailand. We should have booked months ago when we could have used frequent flyer miles. Oh well. And then there are the logistics of: moving first then travel? Or travel and then move? And what to do with the dog during all of this since airlines won’t fly a dog during the summer (the baggage/cargo area isn’t cooled I guess).
Anyway, we should not “argue” over where to vacation. Rather… enthusiastically debate!
And to Stepho’s comment… I am quilting! I am working on a flannel rag quilt for a gift. It is really quite lovely. I want to keep it for myself ![]()

I can understand about not being gung-ho about Thailand–it’s hard when you don’t speak the language and the culture is so unbelievably different. But Australia is way way expensive (and it will be winter then in ‘dem ‘dar parts) and having gone to London more times than I can count in the last ten years, it might be nice to get out of Europe.
Plus, once you have youngins, Thailand is pretty much out of the picture until retirement.
Unless JS has business in his Global Marketing position in Thailand and you can tag along. I am imagining this… ![]()
I think Marc’s cousin Abi went to Thailand on her honeymoon a couple of years back and really enjoyed it. And anywhere is better than Cincinnati! I always vote Paris–we might actually make it there this August. I’ll keep you posted.
I finished Sam’s pants. I will have to post a pic on my blog!
